Main Street Facing South

This photo provides a south-facing view of Main Street during a snowstorm. The image shows tie-posts for local shoppers to tie up their horses. In the 1970s, the three-story building to the right housed a bookstore often visited by Glassboro State College students. In the early 1950s, this building housed a General Store, which Oscar Wolfbrant owned. The building would have been near the approximate map coordinates 39.701995, -75.112318. 

Although the building no longer stands, long-time Glassboro residents fondly remember the shop for its disarray. Books were stacked in the windows and along the floor rather than organized neatly onto shelves.

In the distance, on the right side of Main Street, is the steeple of the Methodist Protestant Church, now the Trinity Bible Church. (For more Information) In the 1960s, this steeple was struck by lightning, caught fire, and collapsed.
