Academy Street School Fire

Text

This page shows photographs from the March 17th, 1975 fire at the Academy Street Grammar School. The fire, cause unknown, broke out in a 3rd floor closet, before making its way upwards to the cupola. The fire seems to have only affected the roof, and the rest of the building remained intact. Newspaper reports from after the incident say that over 500 students and staff were evacuated without incident.
